Dean's Message

The Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery at An-Najah National University is relatively new in terms of time; however, within a record period of no more than five years, it has become an academic institution whose corridors echo with limitless ambitions, creativity that draws admiration, and achievements that widen the eyes when mentioned.

Our beginnings as a faculty, specifically in 2021, seemed like a rebellion against a difficult reality that we all lived through and a challenge that some considered a kind of risky venture. Yet, as we stand on the threshold of graduating the first cohort of our beloved students, we can confidently say that we have met the expectations of our supporters and have become a source of inspiration for many.

If you are looking for the most distinguished academic staff in the country or the most modern infrastructure, or if you aspire to become dentists with a high level of knowledge and manual skills in an atmosphere of appreciation and respect for every individual and in an environment capable of shaping students’ personalities so they become leaders and builders of society, then your compass will certainly point toward An-Najah National University and its Faculty of Dentistry.

We were, and still are, among the very few universities in the Middle East and among the few in the world that introduced virtual reality as a simulation system for pre-clinical training, in addition to traditional simulation systems.

What has been achieved in our faculty during these few years, as many have testified, required decades for others, and they have not yet reached what has been achieved at An-Najah National University.

My beloved students, let us pause together for a moment to recall days that have passed and the years that followed since you took your first steps, leaving childhood behind. And here you are now, on the threshold of entering the arena of life as men and women with a high level of maturity, experience, and wisdom.

When the results of actions are louder than the echo of words, or when hats are raised in recognition of achievements, then you are certainly at An-Najah National University.

Mistaken is the one who believes that we have reached the peak of our ambitions, the height of our achievements, or that what we have accomplished is the farthest limit of our imagination.

As for us, unlike those people, we are fully aware that there is still much ahead of us to achieve. We will not be satisfied with having placed this faculty at the forefront of educational institutions nationally; we will not rest until we see the Faculty of Dentistry at An-Najah National University among the ranks of prestigious faculties regionally and, eventually, globally.

Promoting scientific research is one of our priorities. We have begun offering several graduate programs, and more will be launched in the near future, especially those that are the most modern on one hand and the most demanded by the Palestinian community on the other, in line with the rapid development in dentistry and its modern technologies based on digitization, artificial intelligence, and similar advancements.

We have made considerable progress, within a record period of time, toward obtaining one of the international accreditations related to the quality of dental education. After achieving this goal, we seek to move forward toward other international accreditations.

My beloved students, we have long dreamed of the moment when we would graduate the first cohort of you. However, as we look forward to this day, and as you stand on the threshold of beginning a professional life filled with successes, we are filled with mixed emotions. We are happy for your graduation, yet we feel a sense of sadness because we will be parting from you.

Be confident that we, in your faculty—our faculty—will remain loyal to our humanitarian profession. Be assured that we will always be present to offer advice, with our hands extended and our hearts open to you, always supporting your professional and scientific journey.
